Minden Waterfront Cottages

Minden and the Minden Hills area have many beautiful lake homes for sale. These homes have beautiful wrap around decks, elevated to take in waterfront views. Another common feature, and typical of rugged forest cabins, are the tall great rooms with fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the light and natural ambience.

Wood is a common material, both inside and out of Minden homes for sale. Gardens are often simple, to fit in with the natural landscape, complete with shady mature trees and lush grasses.

Many of the lakeside Minden homes for sale  will include private docks, boathouses, and even boat lifts for the lucky few. These locations are great for swimming in the summer and taking in a drink over the water when the sun goes down.

Minden itself has many quaint suburban homes, finished with a variety of country details, like large front porches, gambrel roofs, dormer windows, and wood frame construction.

Things to Do in Minden

For such a small town, Minden is packed full of things to see and do.

For a start, there’s the Minden Hills Cultural Centre which has a gallery, library, and a living museum/ heritage village with a school, blacksmith, and church over a four-acre site.

Locations and businesses to check out around Minden are:

  • Ogopogo Resort on Mountain Lake
  • The Bonnie View Inn
  • Boshkung Brewing Company
  • Minden White Water / Wild Water Preserve

As mentioned, Minden is a renowned location for white-water canoeing, and the town has its own water park dedicated to this activity. In fact, the river is arguably the centerpiece of the town, with its own walks and scenic lookouts.

Minden also has its own town golf course - Beaverbrook Golf Course, an executive course across from the Minden Rotary Park and river.

As with any town in Ontario’s cottage country, Minden makes a great base for enjoying a host of outdoor activities. In the summer, residents enjoy hiking, fishing, boating, water-skiing, swimming, and horseback riding, while in the winter there’s snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and skating.

The wider area has an abundance of pristine and wild parks and lakes. Nearby parks include Queen Elizabeth II Provincial Park, Bigwind Lake Provincial Park, and Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. All within a few miles of Minden, there are also a series of large lakes that make perfect grounds for recreation, staying in a lakeside cabin or cottage, or snagging an empty lot to build your dream getaway.

Some notable lakes in the area are Bob Lake, South Lake, Gull Lake, Bat Lake, Mountain Lake, and Minden Lake.
